D. Smith

D. Smith

What is your most recent project you've done that people may be familiar with?
"Shoot Me Down" on (lil' Wayne's) Carter 3 was my most recent project. I think people are responding mostly to the atmosphere of the song. It's sort of dark but peaceful at once.

What are you planning to work on next?
I've got two songs on Ciara's new album coming out this fall! She's great. The songs we did were really different for her, but she killed them. She took a chance with me, but it worked! I'm so excited for her. Also, I got a joint on Keri Hilson's project, also released this fall.

What was your first project as a musician that you really felt was important?
Everything, I do is important to me. I will never work on a project I don't care about. Not even for a check. I'm building a legacy not a resume.

Who do you look to as a mentor in your career, and what have they helped you to learn?
I totally look to a sick painter named Salvador Dali. Google him, I wouldn't even come close to explaining who he is.
