ACE - Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect to find on ACE?
ACE is a database of song titles licensed by ASCAP in the United States. For each title, you can find the names of the songwriters, publisher contact information, addresses and, in most cases, phone numbers. For many titles, you will also find the name of the band or artist.
The song I’m looking for is getting airplay, but I can’t locate it on ACE. Why?
The title registration may be incomplete and not displayed on ACE, or the title may not be licensed through ASCAP.
I'm an ASCAP member, and can only locate some of my titles on ACE. Why can't I find all my titles on ACE?
When the ACE database was first created in 1993, it consisted of information only with respect to titles that previously appeared in one of ASCAP’s domestic performance surveys dating back to January 1, 1978. Works that were registered with ASCAP prior to 1991 but didn’t appear in domestic surveys are still listed in ASCAP’s records, even though the works may not appear on the ACE database. In addition, works for which ASCAP received incomplete or duplicate registrations may not appear on ACE. If you are an ASCAP Member and cannot find all of your titles on ACE, please activate your Member Access account at members.ascap.com to confirm that your works are properly registered with ASCAP.
Can I find a publisher’s catalog on ACE?
A publisher catalog search is not available on ACE.
I looked up a title on ACE and received a message to contact ASCAP for additional publisher information.
This work may be a collaborated work with BMI/SESAC, have an interest outside the U.S., or it may be the subject of a counterclaim from another writer or publisher.
My title is listed twice on ACE. Why?
It is possible there is more than one version of work or the work registration was submitted by more than one entitled party.
Can I register my titles on the ASCAP web site?
Yes, go to the "Title Registration" section on the ASCAP.com home page.
